Hasselblad
300 F/2.8 Tele-Superachromat TPP FE 2.8 T*
Telephoto Power Pack Lens with Zeiss
Apo-Mutar 1.7XE converter, for 200 Series
Cameras

The Zeiss Telephoto
Power Pack is the
ultimate telephoto
lens option for
demanding
photographers for
use with the
Hasselblad 200
series camera
models. Consisting
of the most
optically advanced
telephoto lens in
the professional
medium format and a
perfectly matched
converter, it
provides unsurpassed
speed and
performance.
Truly Outstanding
Optics The Zeiss
Tele-Superachromat
(Sa) FE 300 mm, with
a maximum aperture
of f/2.8, is the
most exclusive lens
in the Hasselblad
System. Its
outstanding optical
design incorporates
technologically
advanced glass
elements, such as
fluor crown glass
with anomalous
partial dispersion
in combination with
barium dense flint
glass.
An Unusual Approach
In Lens Design The
design of this lens
is quite a story in
itself. The design
of the Telephoto
Power Pack posed a
challenge not just
to Carl Zeiss, but
even more so to the
optical glass
manufacturer. No
glass manufacturer
was able to produce
material within the
extremely narrow
tolerances required,
so the lens
designers at Carl
Zeiss had to tackle
the problem from the
other direction.
They began by
purchasing the
specified batch of
glass materials.
Only after analyzing
the actual values of
the glass could they
complete the optical
design and prepare
for manufacture
accordingly. The
complex process
behind this lens
also means that the
quantity of optical
glass produced for
the Telephoto Power
Pack allows for only
a limited series of
lenses and
converters.
Combined with the
Zeiss Apo-Mutar
1.7XE converter,
which is exclusively
designed for the
lens and
individually
calibrated to fit,
the focal length
extends to 500 mm.
The effective
aperture is reduced
by only 1.5 EV-stops
to f/4.8.
Superachromatic
Perfection
The superachromatic
design of the lens
and converter
provides unsurpassed
correction of
chromatic
aberrations over the
entire spectral
range - from 400 to
1000 nm - even at
wide-open aperture.
The correction is so
good that color
fringing has been
virtually
eliminated. The
performance as
described by the MTF-curves
- both for the lens
alone and combined
with the
teleconverter - is
impressive, as is
the extremely bright
viewfinder image,
which makes the lens
easy to focus.
